Henry V in Film.

This being a historic play, it makes it hard for me to judge the play knowing that it was based on real events. That being said, when I read the play, it felt very comedic and story like. It's hard for me to imagine it all as reality because it seems so ridiculous. Especially when we are trying to evaluate whether Henry is a good person or not. The entire play is based on an uneccesary series of violent events. With that in mind, it feels like we need to suspend our belief and morals a bit, before we can even examine Henry's morals. So, if I were okay with war and killing innocent people then yeah Henry is a good ole patriotic guy who is an excellent leader to say the least. But when reading about battles from so long ago it's much easier for me to say "yeah those guys deserved it", or, "oh, he's just doing what he has to do for his country!" but in reality none of it is really okay to me. When we watched the film it was much easier for me to take this play seriously and it reminded me that it was based on historical events. The film certainly did not have a funny vibe to it all and it was actually a bit solemn and sad. A totally different picture in my head than that of the play. It really made me think about the play in an entirely different light and with real people in mind rather than characters on a page!
